I have been camping in the Anza Borrego for a number of years. It seems to be hit or miss on finding a sheltered area (from the wind). Have you found spots that consistently have no wind? I would love you hear of your favorite spots.

Probably not what you are looking for but favorite are on summit of Whale Peak, the saddle below Villager, and a saddle just out of Borrego Palm Canyon near where you would exit to climb Indianhead (I woke to a snow covered desert when I camped here a few years ago).
In reality I think the best campsite depends on what you are looking for in a campsite.
When it gets a little warm I like Culp Valley due to its elevation.
The rest of the time I choose the site by what I desire to do and how isolated I desire to be.
For most campers I think Agua Caliente is a good choice as it has good luxuries including the pool, store, and showers, decent hikes, a stream with frogs, and many things to do nearby (mud caves, Indian hill, Goat Canyon Trestle hike, slot Canyon, badlands, etc.)

I think when it is windy in the desert you will get a windy campsite...my favorites right now are Indian Valley in the cooler months and Blair Valley in the hotter months.

My favorite spots are where I can get my truck camper as far away as the roads allow. The camper always blocks the wind  ....Oriflamme canyon is nice, all the way to the end of pinyon wash, coachwhip canyon is protected, and sandstone canyon is sweet.
Not sure if you mean car camping or backpacking though.

We tend to car camp with our tents in isolated areas. My husband's 4WD can get through most spots... aside from the crazy drop offs. dsefcik, Thanks for the welcome... I was hoping the answer wasn't that "when it is windy in the desert you will get a windy campsite"  But you are probably right.
I recall staying in Oriflamme Canyon once... it has been a while. Coachwhip Canyon is a good one. We may be heading back out there this weekend.

Indian Valley.....North Fork....get there early....
Some nice spots way back up behind Little Blair, follow the road up towards Shake Peak on the topo. I have tried to hide from the wind before, doesn't seem to work out very well hence my comment....Cool Canyon may be empty also, not super back country but I don't think very many people go there...one other spot is at the end of Mine Wash, there is a nice tucked in camp area. End of Carrizo Gorge is also good.

Fish creek has been a family favorite of ours for decades.
We've never had a wind problem, but some of that's probably just luck of the draw.

I agree.
Fish Creek is great and is the first place we ever camped in Anza Borrego.
It is semi wind protected at some of the spots

We tent camped at Little Blair a few weeks ago and even though the weather report made no mention of wind, we were practically blown away. Driving through Big Blair each day it seemed much calmer although the sites did not seem as nice. Will probably try one of the group sites next time if we come with a few other families or the Fish Creek area.

True Blair Valley is somewhat exposed.
I have been out there with blue skies, hail, rain, wind and rainbows all in the same day

That was a crazy Anza Borrego Thanksgiving trip. The wind gusted and blew my brand new REI sleeping bag out of the rooftop tent and placed it perfectly on a lit Coleman stove.
Result. Major feather storm that looked like snow :-)
