Decided to do a day trip to with my son up Lycium Wash Area. Very interesting place. The rock formations are amazing. There is tons of Bighorn Sheep Scat all over the place, as this seems to be a popular drinking area when there is water. It was totally dry. Would be a great place to hang out and see some wildlife when there is water.

That does look like a neat place, I still have yet to get over to the Fish Creek area. I know just over yonder in Alma Wash we saw tons of bighorn scat and also dead lamb. According to a park ranger, Fish Creek is a popular place for bighorn.

Looks like a fun day. I bet your son had fun exploring all the rocks. I went up Oyster Shell Wash a few weeks ago and also saw a lot of scat. There was some ponded water in that canyon.

anutami your boy and vehicle (at a distance) look so much like my boy and vehicle that the photos look like they could be from me a couple years ago.
What is the vehicle and does it have a rack? I have Silver 4Runner Trail with Gobi rack and ladder.
My boy is a little bigger now (9 years old) but he still looks a lot like the picture and still loves his camoflage outfits.
I am at least 3 trip reports behind that I want to find time to post. If I post my Utah dessert trip there will be a photo of my vehicle as it got covered from top to bottom in mud (still dropping mud over a week after returning).
If I do not post this weekend it will not happen for a while as I am going to Death Valley the following weekend (going to try a winter summit of Telescope Peak and my boy has not seen the DV sites - he loves ghost towns, hiking, hot springs, it will be tough to choose what to see in a weekend where one day will be spent entirely hiking Telescope).

I bet you had so much fun in Utah. Would love to see some of you pics. We went to Zion National park, Arches and onward to Colorado Springs in 2010. Zion is amazing.
The vehicle is a Nissan Xterra, with a yakima load warrier rack. It was my wifes vehicle but we just got her a mazda 3 to get better gas mileage, and decided to keep the xterra. I was going to try and get it wired to tow behind my truck, but you can only tow the manual not the automatic. Looks like I will have to get a trailer if I want to tow it out to the desert.
When we were at DV in December Telescope peak looks like a great place. We made it to the kilns, and the pinyon pines in the area make one special place. It is a grown up version of Whale peak. There is a storm system coming this weekend and into the early next week, watch the weather as it looks to be unsettled for some time. Is your 9 year old going to summit with you? What a trooper if he is. Can't wait unitl my kids are big enough to do some of the more challenging hikes.

That is a great pic with the anticline and your vehicle....
The road from the kilns up to the Telescope Peak TH may be closed this time of year, check the Morning Report for DV..it will be cold!!
