Here is my update on the 2010 flower season out in Anza Borrego at the southern end of the park We saw many of the Ocotillo leafing up and looking very healthy. A fair number had orange buds. Off of the S2 heading north near Arroyo Tapiado we saw a few large barrel cactus with yellow buds that looked close to flowering.
Near Carrizo Gorge / Egg Mountain / Bow Willow there were a few Chuparosa bushes that were flowering. I am going to stick my neck out here and say that in 2-3 weeks (first couple weeks on March) it will be an amazing flower season out in the Anza Borrego Desert.
